Rochester Regional Health (RRH) and UR Medicine (the University of Rochester Medical Center) are the two major health systems in the Rochester metro. RRH is a community-based system anchored by Rochester General Hospital and Unity Hospital. UR Medicine is the academic system anchored by Strong Memorial Hospital (a Level I Trauma Center). Both have urgent care networks across the metro — choose by which insurance plan you carry and which hospital your primary care provider is affiliated with.

Rochester Regional Health accepts Florida Blue (BCBS of Florida), Humana, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Medicare, and Florida Medicaid. Major in-network plans include Excellus BlueCross BlueShield (the dominant upstate New York BCBS plan), MVP Health Care, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Cigna, Tricare, Medicare, and New York Medicaid Managed Care plans (Excellus, Fidelis, MVP, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, Molina). Affordable Care Act marketplace plans through New York State of Health are accepted.

All RRH Urgent Care visits feed into the Rochester Regional Health Epic MyChart EMR — visible to Rochester General Hospital (the system flagship and Level II Trauma Center), Unity Hospital, Newark-Wayne, Clifton Springs, United Memorial Medical Center, and the 1,500+ RRH physicians. Imaging, labs, and referrals to subspecialists flow seamlessly without paperwork transfer. If hospitalization or trauma escalation is needed, the urgent care team coordinates direct transfer.
